BMW Safety and Security Concept
The F.I.R.S.T. principle (Fully Integrated Road Safety Technology) applies to all BMW vehicles. This principle combines all aspects of active and passive safety into an integrated whole. Priority here is given to the avoidance of risks – because the best policy is to avoid an accident happening in the first place. Special requirements relating to the protection of persons exposed to risk are based on this concept. This ensures that BMW Security vehicles also protect their passengers appropriately in all situations. The BMW 7 Series High Security has the protection level B6/B7, representing the ultimate in mobile security offered by BMW.

1. Bullet-resistant laminated security glazing
Ballistic protection in transparent areas is provided by multi-layer laminated security glazing with an internal polycarbonate layer. The function of the internal polycarbonate layer is to protect passengers from glass fragments inside the vehicle.

2. Armouring in non-transparent areas
The requirements of protection level B7 are satisfied by the use of special armoured steel. This armouring is integrated into the body structure of the High Security vehicle directly at the start of production in such a way that even the smallest of gaps and overlaps, which subsequently cannot be accessed, are effectively protected. BMW goes a step further: Above protection level B7, a special fibre-reinforced material is used as an additional measure against special armour-piercing ammunition. This material prevents fragments and secondary projectiles from entering the passenger compartment.

3. Under-body protection
The standard under-body protection protects the passengers by preventing grenade fragments from entering the passenger cell.
