Russia celebrated its national day on a glorious summer's evening, but Ambassador Yuri Fedotiv had to put on brave smile as guests arrived - his country's football side had just been beaten by Spain in the Euro 2008 Championships. But the disappointment didn’t last long as the barbecues were fired up for the mother of all summer parties. Piles of caviar and grilled shashlik were all washed down with the very best Russian vodka and everyone soon forgot about the defeat.
